MBA stands for Master in Business Administration, and as the name suggests, this degree gives you a sound grounding in managing a business. An MBA is supposed to prepare you to work on the managerial side of an organization. It teaches you to optimally utilize the resources available to a business i.e. man, money, machine, land & building and also teaches you about non tangible assets of a business like goodwill, brand power, etc. In our institute an MBA degree is a 2 year course, and on completion, a serious and sincere student can expect himself to be a confident communicator who is well versed with the various nuances of running a business and can work well with people and make people work towards the organizational goals. You would also have honed your analytical and decision making skills. At the end of two years, you will be a thorough professional ready to take on all the challenges involved in running a business.
One could say that B-Schools look for unpolished gems while selecting candidates and hope to polish and groom them over a two year period and offer them to the market place. B-Schools look for people with strong values, with strong opinions, with a good idea of the world around them and someone who is committed to becoming a management professional. A person who is seeking to do an MBA simply because he can’t think of any other way to secure a good job will not be able to impress the selection panel suitably. You need to have a fire in the belly and the drive to be an achiever in the future, irrespective of your past track-record.
